His corporate activities included a managerial position in a research and development group, technical sales as an export manager for a power engineering company, marketing director and chief engineer for a Swiss based electronics company and a number of other general management positions and Directorships in UK and overseas.

In January 2004 Tim Colman received accreditation as an Associate of the Institute for Independent Business.
